Ольга, вроде разобрался. Как я понял - подчёркивается факт того, что история всё ещё не завершена в настоящий момент.

Иначе можно было бы сказать: "Zero has a long history".

по идее has had употребляется потому, что и данному моменту эта история уже произошла и закончилась
