Uly, это спорное утверждение, позволю себе не согласиться в данном случае...😊
It may be spornoe to you, but not to me... PICTURE OF refers to the content of your picture: This a picture of my dog. Did you take a picture of the car after the accident? It can even be an abstract object: A diary gives you a picture of yesterday, which you can look back on when you're older. However PICTURE FROM refers to WHEN the picture was taken: This is my picture from ten years ago. Do you have the pictures from the 4th of July? Так позвоьте себе верить, во что хотите, но вот это вообще-то реальность, а не фантазия.
😊
Why have you taken - what’s the sense of the perfect?
There is no sense, unless the speaker is angry or frustrated.
Evgenia, I'm not angry and I'm not out to humiliate anyone, I just tried to explain. If you google "picture of last year" you will see that in most cases it comes "last year"S XXX" because it refers to a person or object being photogrophed. The few instances of "picture of last year" are written by non-natives or natives who don't know how to write English.
However, "picture from last year" invariable refers to WHEN the photo was taken:
))) Ну что тут скажешь? Против лома нет приёма.))
The only thing I can say:
It’s always sad to watch Russian learners of English getting into arguments with a native speaker, professional linguist, and translator... Unfortunately, Russian textbooks are much more important to them than the rare opportunity of improving their English straight from the living source of the language. So sad...
Eugenia has a right to her opinion. The beauty of this app is that the lesson is there for anyone who wants to learn it. In this case, you and Tatiana got an interesting English lesson))) and Evgenia got my opinion, which will hopefully help her form her own. Everybody is here to learn and enjoy our respective languages.
🙏 More and more comments on here won't open up for me . That makes me think that this beautiful app is going to приказать долго жить. (((
I really wish I wasn't right about it.
*I really hope I’m wrong.
It’s a nightmare, I have to use a combination of the computer, the iPad and the iPhone in order to do anything on this site.
