Почему " it's not making sense", а не "doesn't make sense"?

A: I’ve been studying Russian for five years. How is it that when I try to speak to Russians, they never understand what I’m trying to say and I have to repeat everything three times?
B: You know a lot of words and grammar, but you need to work on word order. Sometimes, to the Russian ear, you just don’t make sense.

Husband: Angela, please! Sit down. You’re hysterical. What happened? You’re not making (any) sense!!
