Der mit dem Netz POLIS und dem öffentlichen Verein für öffentliches Verkehrswesen (UITP) geschaffene Informationsdienst „Mobilität im Nah- und Regionalverkehr" wird begrüßt.

The Committee welcomes the establishment of the European Local Transport Information Service (ELTIS), set up with the help of the POLIS network of cities and regions and the International Union of Public Transport (UITP).

Schließlich wird ihm der Vertrag von Amsterdam noch eine Anzahl neuer Kompetenzen in den Bereichen Beschäftigung, Sozialpolitik, Durchführung staatlicher Gesundheitsmaßnahmen, Umwelt, Berufsausbildung und Verkehrswesen zuweisen.

Finally, the Treaty of Amsterdam will add a new range of competencies to the Committee of the Regions which will cover employment, social policy, implementing measures for public health, the environment, vocational training and transport.
