You need to post the whole sentence

This is name the song I will as I am

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 years ago

я буду таким, каким я есть (??)

Irena Opublicó un comentario 6 years ago

По смыслу буду тем, кто я есть/я буду таким, каков я есть): я останусь прежним (????)

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 years ago

я буду тем, кто я есть = i’ll be WHO I am/I’ll be myself; я буду таким, каков я есть = I’ll be AS I am

+++Russ (although I think you need a comma after таким) 😉

Is punctuation mandatory in translations? I thought the users just wanted to know the meaning.

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 years ago

I personally think that punctuation and meaning go hand in hand. I’ve seen situations where the punctuation, or lack thereof, led to confusion. But aside from all that, I just think that part of learning a language is being exposed to the best possible representation of the language. Russian has rather complicated punctuation rules, and the Russians on here should be responsible in their use of correct pronunciation for the sake of learners. Whenever I write things in Russian on other sites for practice, Russians always congratulate me on my use of punctuation in Russian. I like that.

So to answer your question - of course it’s not mandatory. But it’s responsible 😉

I see.

By the way, a group of advanced users on here meet with me on ZOOM to practice their English. Would you like to join us sometime?

Russ Spublicó un comentario 6 years ago

I would love to. But these days literally I have no time for it. Full time job, 2 kids and very little free time left. Maybe later. And thanks for offering. By the way, what is it like? A few people would join the session and cross talk to one another? Or you have prepared material to present or to discuss? Or it is more like Q&A session? I'm just curious what it's like...

It’s just an impromptu conversation for the most part. Sometimes we discuss the posts on here.

Alexsandr Bezsalov, when someone takes the time to help you figure out a translation - in this case a group of people - it's customary to use the words THANK YOU at some point.

Alexsandr Bezsalovpublicó un comentario 6 years ago

dear Улий , I always put the like for translation and if someone didn’t thank you, then this is an exception, not attentiveness, because I hard work. I go into this dictionary every day! Спасибо)

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 years ago

I’ve never ONCE seen you thank anybody!

Alexsandr Bezsalovpublicó un comentario 6 years ago

leaving the like and thank you, in principle, it is one and the same

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 years ago

Like are applied to translations, but there are people in the comments who haven’t added a translation, but are working to come up with the best translation/explanation possible for YOU and they don’t get a heart, or even a thank you.

Alexsandr Bezsalovpublicó un comentario 6 years ago

ok, in the future I will take into account those people who have a heart!
