Vladimir comes from the Old Slavonic Name of "Vlad" (short name of Vladislav) and "Mir" (peace). Although the old meaning of the name Владимѣръ is (Great in his power), many Russians today will consider its meaning as "Peace or World Ruler"

It is also translated in Spanish as «Vladimiro», but nobody uses that name in the Spanish world.
