Андерсен был очень одинок. Очень. Я не знаю его жизни; кажется, он жил беспутно, много путешествовал, но это только подтверждает моё чувство,-он был одинок. Именно поэтому он обращался к детям, хотя это ошибочно, будто дети жалеют человека больше взрослых. Дети ничего не жалеют, они не умеют жалеть.

Andersen was very lonely. Highly. I don't know his life path; he seems to have been a misfit, traveled a lot, but all that only confirms my feeling, - he was lonely. That's why he addressed the children, though it's wrong to find the children feeling for a man more than the adults. Children feel sorry for nothing, they don't know how to feel for.
