Numeral

  1. При произнесении времени по часам возможны два варианта

    1. Произносятся сначала часы, затем минуты (в форме количественных числительных)

    2. Называются минуты, затем предлог past (в американском варианте английского языка часто используется также предлог after), а затем часы. Если до конца часа осталось меньше минут, чем прошло с его начала, обычно указывается количество оставшихся до конца часа минут, затем предлог to (в американском варианте английского языка могут также использоваться предлоги of, before и till), а затем следующий час

  2. Вместо 15 минут обычно используется слово a quarter, а вместо 30 минут - слово half

  3. После целого числа часов (без минут) обычно употребляется слово o'clock

  4. В обычной речи при указании времени используется двенадцатичасовой цикл, при необходимости с утоняющими словами in the morning - утра, in the afternoon - дня, in the evening - вечера. На письме для уточнения часто используются сокращения a.m. - до полудня, от лат. ante meridiem и p.m. - после полудня, от лат. post meridiem
