Although lithium-ion batteries do not need such conditioning (in fact, it would unnecessarily use up available charge cycles), there is a situation where a full discharge and recharge cycle may be beneficial.

Lithium-ion batteries are affected the least by incomplete discharging and have a higher discharge cut-off point (2.5V–3V versus 1V for NiCd batteries), but due to the gas gauge circuits, the effect on the apparent life is still noticeable.
