– Теперь я понимаю, – отвечал Гайдн, – почему сочинение ораторий навевает на меня больше вдохновения и надежды на успех, чем создание оперы, хотя я и чувствую потребность писать для театра, если вообще решусь когда‑нибудь на это.-Ce que tu me dis là, répondit Haydn, m'explique pourquoi, en sentant la nécessité d'écrire des opéras pour le théâtre, si tant est que je puisse arriver jusque-là, je me sens plus d'inspiration et d'espérance quand je pense à composer des oratorios.Санд, Жорж / Консуэло.
