Nick, NEWTON on its own doesn’t mean cookie - FIG NEWTON is the full name of this confection and “newton” isn’t used to refer to any other type of cookie.

Hi Улий, my source for this was the Wiki article which reads "As of 2012, Nabisco makes several varieties of the Newton, which, in addition to the original fig filling, include versions filled with apple cinnamon, strawberry, raspberry, and mixed berry" and "Since 2012, the "Fig" has been dropped from the product name"

Aha! So it’s the same cookie but with different fillings. Gotcha! I always hated fig newtons. They’re soggy and the fig filling is disgusting. Good to know they have different fillings now!
