WARNING!!! One of these translations is inaccurate. Certain elements of the original Russian have been disregarded or ignored completely. Please refer to my translation for a more accurate rendition. The other user is merely guessing at the meaning. My English is native.

Please be warned that she won’t delete it because it already has three hearts, but be mindful that it’s lacking and not worth studying.

Me too

I would say STREAM calls to mind a big flow and doesn’t correctly translate речка. I would suggest STREAMLET.

That’s a very nice turn of phrase - did you come up with it on your own or with help?

Good work!

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 лет назад

That one’s not too good. I think you have the same situation in Russian sometimes. Who was meandering, WE or the STREAMLET?

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 лет назад

Also, we don’t know if they were meandering. They could have been on a mission or direct path somewhere. MEANDER means to WANDER for people, and to CURVE or WIND for rivers. But this post isn’t about the motion of either the speaker or the river, it’s about the moment when they look up and see a river.

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 лет назад

At least that’s what I’m assuming from the Russian - I may be wrong.

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 6 лет назад

Elena, I’m sure you got MEANDER from a native. This is what I mean when I say that even natives can’t always be trusted. If you ask for help, they want to comply so they’ll give you anything. YOU know the context, YOU know English and Russian, so YOU have to be the ultimate judge of what you post. Your last translation is a gorgeous rendering of the original Russian post - almost poetic in it’s simplicity and expression))
