What I didn't quite understand was the past in the first sentence. I had an impression the speaker bought it/sewed it/had it sewn sometime before, wore it and now they're about to give it away to the listener. 🤔

I got the impression that they saw it in a store and were describing it to the listener for her to possibly go and buy it.
