Do you ask seriously?)
Absolutely. I've only been studying Russian for four years, so I'm never sure if my guesses are correct :-)
:-) you variant is fine :-)
Thank you!
You can omit "по-твоему" since it is not in the original question, as in "Do you think I look like one?"
You are welcome :-) Thank you to ask me
Well, I guess that по-твоему suits stylistically very well to the question. In this Russian question it's implied depending on the intonation. So it mustn't be there but it conforms to the sense too.
Thank you, Aleh! The reason I added it is to make it ruder, because we only really say this when you feel insulted :)
Thank you, Irina. I'm a professional translator, so I'm in the habit of looking behind the words and expressing the emotion. But I don't want anything to sound incorrect, so thank you both for your comments!
Me too, Uly. I know what you mean. Your translation is not incorrect. There're some variations, that's all
Thanks again
:-)
Uly, your translation is fine. It's just a bit embellished. ))
I find Uly's translation not embellished. It depends on the situation. And his example shows the intention correctly. What is the point of a translation? To transmit the meant intention. The goal was reached.
Thank you both again
Nice job, Uly! It sounds VERY natural!
*natural
got it!:)
👍🏼
In my opinion, the best translation is the one that you can translate back and forth without any change. Uly, try to put your Russian version for back translation to English in a few days. Let's see the results.
It's not always the case. The best translation is the one which transmits the implicit sense and not just words. But as they say tastes differ)
