Хотя нет « this year »

Somehow to me "have a lot of snow" doesn't sound quite right in this question. We would use it for actual snow on the ground at the time of the question, but it sounds like this original post is referring to general snowfall.

Hm, to me it's about actual snow on the ground all the more so because the amount of general snowfall usually somewhat equals that on the ground.

If it’s about snow on the ground at the time of the question, then it’s more idiomatic to ask “did you get a lot of snow(fall) (where you are)?“
