SMOOTH MOVE is used in two ways (1) Sarcastically, when someone does something physically that makes them appear clumsy, idiotic, especially a guy attempting to impress a girl, since SMOOTH is used to describe a guy who knows how to talk to women, is successful with women: [two friends at a party] A: Watch, I'm going to take Angela this glass of wine and ask her out. (He walks over to Angela, trips on a wire and spills the wine on her...] B: Smooth move, Romeo! 😂 (2) Admiringly of someone who has made a well-strategized move that proved successful: (cocktail party, couple Brenda and Dave are warmly greeted by the local real estate mogul and his wife.) Pam: You two just moved here - how did you become so friendly with the Brewers? I've been trying to meet them for years and they won't as much as look at me! Brenda: Simple - we put our daughter in the same school as his, and they became best friends. Now she's at our place all the time. B: Smooth move... Why didn't I think of that!
