FOR STARTERS is used when you have a long list of things to say, least of which is the first one, and you’re usually “incensed”:
“Why don’t I want to go out with you?? For starters, you’re married! Secondly, you’re an alcoholic narcissist who has made your poor wife’s life a total yogurt. What makes you think that I’d be stupid enough to get mixed up with a monster like you?!”
