This/that (approach) devalues my work.🤔

The problem I have with the simple present here is that it implies that the approach has been applied, in which case we would have to use the progressive “is devaluing” (which “devalue” would be my last choice). I think it’s more logical to refer to an approach that has been suggested and argue that it WOULD undermine/invalidate the work IF APPLIED. What do you think?

Then why use такой? If it’s already been applied, would it make more sense to call it ЭТОТ подход in reference to a concrete approach, and not ТАКОЙ подход which refers to one similar to the one referenced?

I think the two are interchangeable, at least, in this very sentence. Этот could be used here too. There’s a really slight difference between them, like этот just points to a concrete approach, while такой doesn’t only points to it, but somehow judges it. Такой can well be “evaluative”.

Aha, it's a popular word. I have heard it from one girl in our class first time . (I attended English classes for 3 months) I missed those classes a lot.
