Exactly! which is why I'm always going on about what's "idiomatic" versus what's "too literal." Often times I would give a good rendition for a word or expression and I would get minuses because it looked too different from the original Russian verbiage. The sentence above is the perfect example. Yana's translation is a word-for-word translation of the Russian, but yours is exactly what 99% of the speakers would actually say in any given situation. That's why I congratulated you :)
