Let me put it this way, if I came across that phrase in a book, I would have absolutely no idea what the hell it meant. Where do these dictionaries find this stuff??

What’s right is right.

Both Diana and Elena turn out to be right, but Diana's version is more neutral and appropriate in my case (there is no negative meaning presupposed). However, "to make old bones" also can be a useful expression.

Useful if you have a dictionary handy to tell you what it means.

Personally I am preparing my university hometask (the student of English philology, yep). I suppose that our teacher can do without dictionary here:)

Every language has idiomatic phrases, and it's wonderful.

I agree that idiomatic phrases are wonderful, but some of them become obsolete and archaic over time to the point that nobody knows what they mean anymore. That was the case here. I had no idea what that meant.
