Why "theater", Yasir? It's actually "cinema" (BrE) or "movies" (AmE).

Yasir, the discussion on wordreference is about the word "select" used with "theaters", not about "theaters".
In everyday speech if you tell someone "I went to the theater yesterday" they'd most likely think you went to an actual theater, not to a cinema/movie theater.
