i have removed the offending word, replacing it with similarly sounding letter P

Валерий, the official name is "the number π (Pi)", in that exact word order (not "the Pi number" and most certainly not "the P number"). When talking about numbers we put the word "number" BEFORE the number itself. As in "the number 8 is my favorite number" etc.
