«Сегодня» начинается в полночь. Многие только ложатся. По-моему, ничего странного.

(1) If you're looking back on the entire day at it's conclusion, you would say I DIDN'T SLEEP TODAY (=usually I take a nap during the day, but today I didn't)

(2) In the middle of the day, you would remark I HAVEN'T SLEPT TODAY (=I usually take a nap during the day and I haven't done it yet).

(3) If someone tells you they didn't call you at 3pm because they were afraid you were taking a nap, you could say I WASN'T SLEEPING TODAY (=I usually take a nap in the afternoon, but today, when you wanted to call me, I wasn't sleeping).

(4) If you're referring to last night, you would say I DIDN'T SLEEP (AT ALL) LAST NIGHT.

Alex, I SLEPT NONE LAST NIGHT is ungrammatical.

Also, "I couldn't sleep AT ALL today"

"I slept none last night" присутствует в словаре В. К. Мюллера. Переводится как: Я сегодня /эту ночь/ совсем не спал.
Ну, если уж и Мюллеру нет доверия, тогда полный ОЙ!

А этот самый Мюллер как-то умудрился откопать. Между прочим, в советское время считался, пожалуй, самым авторитетным автором-составителем словарей. Авторитет развенчан. 😕😕😕
