Как перевести? (ru-en)

Если бы платили мне каждый раз, каждый раз, когда я думаю о еде - Я бы тогда точно похудел и купил себе в сопртзал абонемент.

  1. 1.

If I got paid every single time I thought about food, I would definitely lose weight and join a gym.

Миша, по-моему, не тот порядок. Я бы сказал: Я бы тогда купил себе в сопртзал абонемент и точно похудел.

Русский твой родной язык?

Michael Petrovдобавил комментарий 7 years ago

7 years ago

I appreciate your corrections. English speakers tend never correct my speeches out of their politness. But it is impossible to learn something new if you haven't a reaction, if you don't know about your own mistakes. So thanks a lot!

But I can't understand short corrections. I mean why you've written THAT'S TOO and not it's to? I even don't know what I should google to find the mistake, to read about it. I think it is possible to find why you've written I WAS HOPING, but it's not easy too. Would you be kind enough to give information about it?

⁌ ULY ⁍добавил комментарий 7 years ago

Misha, sometimes it’s best to learn contexts and not phrases. When you hope for something and you’re disappointed, you say “I was hoping..., (but)”: “This year, for my birthday, I was hoping my father would give me a car, but he gave me a bike!”

We normally use IT when someone asks us something, not when we make an “opening” comment: A: What do you think of my cake? B: It’s delicious! -but- A: This/that is a delicious cake! Did you make it? B: Yes, it’s my first cake ever. So you see, the first time you refer to something, you use THIS/THAT (like A/AN), then after that, you can use IT (like THE).

One of the ways I learned Russian is through mistakes. There is only a handful of Russians that will correct me - the rest are too polite, as you say. That is the true secret to learning languages.

Michael Petrovдобавил комментарий 7 years ago

oh noo, articles again😪
got that.

And why you've written TOO BAD??

*And why DID YOU WRITE too bad. - That’s an idiom that expresses disappointment: A: Is Anne still here? B: No, she left for the airport an hour ago. A: Oh, that’s too bad - I wanted to say goodbye before she left. 😕

Michael Petrovдобавил комментарий 7 years ago

well, that's idiom.

Улий - можно последний на сегодня вопрос? for practice: I wonder if you wouldn’t mind the last question for today?

DID YOU WRITE - you wrote because ... ???
Can I write: why have you written too bad? The action is quiet done. I see the result and haven't any refferense to the Past. I speak about the Past in general. So why don't I use the Present Perfect Tense?

⁌ ULY ⁍добавил комментарий 7 years ago

Misha, you can ask me as many questions as you like. The present perfect is used (1) when you refer to something that someone did at any time in their life: Have you (ever) been to Russia? -or- I’ve eaten sushi twice. (=in my life). (2) When you refer very emphatically to an action: “Why have you taken my bike??? I need to go to work!” -or- “You‘ve ruined my party! Why did I invite you??!!”
