Да и когда человек спрашивает, он точно иммет в виду либо быстро, либо дешево, но никак не crappy

фастфуд - is a new word in Russian. It simply did not exist back in 80's or 70's. I personally would not use it when talking to old people. 80% of Russian people who are older than 55 will not understand what фастфуд is. The younger generation - yes, but not elderly people. That is why I prefer to use Ресторан быстрого питания или просто Забегаловка. However, if this dictionary is mostly for youths - then it is ok.

Забегаловка can be just a cafe next to the road. Additionally, забегаловка has existed since the Soviet time, while фастфуд hasn't.

Just like I said, фастфуд did not exist in 80's. And yes, Забегаловка can be BOTH - a cafe next to the road or a fast food place.

По всем признакам (fast, cheap, crap) забегаловка попадает в категогию fastfood. Прото слова такого раньше не было.

I can imagine someone call a fast food restaurant a забегаловка, but if you ask someone где тут ближайшая забегаловка, they will most likely send you to the nearest узбекская кухня or the like.
