Maria’s version with WON’T is pleading with someone to buy a newspaper from her, and Oleg’s version with COULD is ok, but without the commas.

Да этот вопрос - Не могли бы вы купить мне газету? (так может спросить один коллега другого, когда тот выходит на улицу во время обеда, например). А запятые-это распространённая ошибка, потому что в русском языке отделяем с двух сторон запятыми. Привычка:)
