В целом, понятно. Уточнить: про отца это, что он лежит в отключке после 9 выпитых "чего-то"? А старший сын? Лжет правительству? или тоже лежит :) нашел про cow shed, что типа поговорка,
If all the cows are lying down, a rainstorm is coming, к этому отсылка? Сижу голову ломаю. Следующее предложение там The rain dripped from the thatch начинается.
