Does THAT make sense? Is THAT clear?

Uly, I often heard that phrase in Boeing, and it sounded with “IT”. Do you think I misheard it?

IT has a very close tie to a previous statement or, especially a question: A: I just read your report. B: Does it make sense? But as an independent, unsolicited question, for example, after giving an explanation, you would use THAT: “Starting this week, we’re going to start invoicing clients quarterly. So instead of submitting your accounting to me every week, you’ll be archiving it to prepare one big invoice every three months. Does that make sense?” In other words, “does it make sense?” means “I’m concerned that I did something wrong/made mistakes” and “does that make sense?” means “do you fully understand this?” - which is what I think this Russian post is asking.

Yes, the post implies “Do you understand this?”
Perhaps, I misheard the question then.

On my first trip to Seattle, the project lead explained to us what our job would be and said: “Does it make sense?” That was the first time I heard this phrase. At least, that was how I heard it..

he probably said “does tht make sense?” shortening “that”

Most likely. It’s easy to confuse sounds in fluent speech when the language is not native. Before I got to know the idiom “take advantage”, I heard Elvis sing like “please don’t take IT BANAGE.” 😆
