тюремный мир - да, звучит лучше. Но, думаю, и по-английски можно было сказать по-другомю

In English, WORLD serves to express that there is a vast amount of them and it makes perfect sense.

IMO, не такое уж далекое. Оно более широкое, и одно из значений очень близко.
