Следующая фраза там:

According to the context, these two pilots broke the simulator last time — maybe they were pulling the controls too hard or something, but “don’t… this time” means they broke it before.

I agree with Grumbler. There’s nothing here to suggest that breaking means anything besides destroying.

Возможно, симуляции прерывались из-за ошибок пилотов. В реальности это означало бы катастрофу = смерть. В этом был бы смысл.
Однако, это не то, что автор написал.
