Как можно "учить текст"?
Учить наизусть? Изучать?

We don't use TEXT in this way in English, and if so, it would be a PIECE of English text. If this refers to learning it by heart, it would be MEMORIZE or LEARN ENGLISH PASSAGES BY HEART. But the Russian text doesn't make sense to me in the first place. What does this mean?

Holy Molyadded a comment 8 years ago

Uly, in Russian "text" can also mean a piece of text (like for example a piece of text from the textbook one has to learn by heart). If it's a complete short story (as they use in textbooks) then we usually say "текст" instead of "кусок текста" (a piece of text). In Russian "кусок текста" would mean an actual part of some (bigger) text.

Olga, my question wasn't about the Russian, I didn't like the English translation "To study English text." Your translation is perfect AND answers my question :)
