Uly, is my variant ok, or is "hit" out of place here?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 9 years ago

HIT isn't the best option, no. Also, an enemy strike is usually an attack from the enemy.

OK, I will change then, thanks!

Or better remove 😁

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 9 years ago

or better YET - remove IT :)

Jane, every error is a lesson unto itself, so don't feel bad. At least you learned something.

Jane Leshadded a comment 9 years ago

Whyyyyy... 😯 What is this YET here for? (I understood about the IT though) 😀

Jane Leshadded a comment 9 years ago

I don't feel bad, I actually feel greatly that there is someone like you teaching me those lessons! I do want to speak English better. Because it turned out my level of English is actually much lower than I used to think.

When you think better of something, (as in this case, where you were going to change your translation and then thought better of it and decided to delete it altogether) you say BETTER YET -or- BETTER STILL: "Happy Birthday, son! Here's $1000 towards your new car. Better yet - I'll pay for the whole thing."

Jane Leshadded a comment 9 years ago

OK, thank you very much. I'll keep that in mind!

Jane, what does this mean: c нулевой связкой ставится

Jane Leshadded a comment 9 years ago

I meant that in Russian we put a dash between a subject and predicate which are expressed by nouns in nominative case (удар молота - удар по врагу), if there is a zero link between a subject and a predicate (with no parenthesis or conjunction etc.).

С нулевой связкой ставится - was my reply to Irina Mayorova's comment.
