Elena, do you realize that the books those quotes come out of could have been written 100 years ago. Why do you argue everything? In today's world, nobody would call a man a redhead. Obviously you don't know that, and Nata doesn't know that, but why keep HER from learning something useful even if you don't give a shit? Nata, please ignore Elena's translation and if you look at the Ngram she posted, notice how high SHE WAS A REDHEAD is. That's significant - it means that it's the primary usage in the language today. If you called a man a redhead in this day and age, they would look at you like you had two heads. That's my advice :)

In other words, you can tell a man "I'm going to introduce you to a 6'3" redhead," but you wouldn't say that to a woman unless she was a lesbian.

Uly, I just asked an English person about "redhead" and got an answer that this is in reference to any person with red hair.

Of course you did and they told you what you wanted to hear. However, if you looked at your own Ngram, you would see a huge gap between the masculine and feminine examples. If you were to apply some intellect, what would that gap tell you?
