Вам, возможно, известен принцип работы ресурса translate.academic.ru. Я поясню: если при запросе данный ресурс не находит в своей базе данный точно словарное совпадение (в данном случае это "under window"), то он предлагает ближайшие к нему словосочетания, которые нашлись. В данном случае ближайшим оказалось "under Windows environment". Но это не то, о чем спрашивал автор.

Потому как в моей ссылке указан не один словарь а несколько словарей. Просто вы дорогие друзья читаете не внимательно..
А Гуугл, известен своей манерой переводить с русского на русский, и с английского на английский. Я Даже никому не советую пользоваться такой помойкой, как американский гугл переводчик.

Ну и какой же из "несколько словарей" переводит "window" как "среда windows", не говаря уж о "under window"?!

Что бы вы знали, операционная система - ВСЕГДА "Windows" - с заглавной буквы и с "s" в конце.

Ernst, no English speaker would look at "under window" and think of (Microsoft) Windows! It's like Olga translated it: something that goes under the window.

Uly, no normal Russian speaker would think this either. Sometimes I wonder what Ernsr's native language is.

In all fairness, I think it's German. At least judging from his name.

Эрнст, понимаете, от того, что вы не согласны, факты не изменятся. Ни в одном из словарей, которые приведены в этой ссылке, нет прямого совпадения фразы. Даже сама фраза уже приведена в изменённом виде - under windowS. Ресурс просто подобрал наиболее близкие варианты за неимением прямого совпадения.

Grumbler, as for the quality of Ernst's German translations, well, I'm not an expert, but there's a lot of argument going on about almost every translation he makes. Uly knows German, I bet he can say if the translations are good or not. My husband is German, but he doesn't know Russian well enough to judge yet :)
