Why is it in passive voice?

it seemed to me the sentence is quite formal. In everyday speech you would probably ask: I'm going to ask you for one more thing... Can you do one more favour for me? Anyway, I can't say how one can fit in that "strong request" (a literal translation of убедительная просьба) there.
