Grumbler, if you’ve only ever spoken to people in simulated situations, in class, for example, or during training, then you have no real/actual experience talking to people in the real world. Also, if you’ve only done it a couple of times, then you have no actual/significant experience yet. Perhaps it’s the same in Russian?

Yes, реального общения as opposed to виртуального общения. But sometimes people say у меня нет опыта реального общения с такими людьми in the sense "I don't have any experience communicating with people like them at all" for some reason.

Exactly. That’s when we say ACTUAL.
