Igor, when you refer to a general class of things, it's always more natural to use a plain plural.

of course, Uly. the same goes for Russian, but "животное любит банан", not "бананы". so I assumed that the animal in question just has tender feelings towards one particular fruit. that's my somewhat cruel sence of humour =)
