Or it can refer to a present position: Where do you see yourself in this company (as of this moment/in terms of advancement/at this point in your career)? The interpretation is dependent on the context.

Ivan, Uly is a native English speaker so he knows what he's talking about.
When this question is asked referring to one's future perpective, it usually sounds like: "Where do you see yourself in five years?", for example.
