In untreated patients - some people give, some PETITIONS give antibiotics first prior to the testing, presumably to release intracellular organisms, now this is a practice that's done by a lot of different people, and they swear by it, and that's fine, I trust them. However, it's not been validated, so if someone says, ‘Show me the study’, I can't do that.

So, the interpretation is based on whether or not a band is there at all and its location, and also its intensity. Now the advantage is that it's a qualitative test, so, it's open to lab and practitioner interpretation, you can say well what bands are present, how many bands are present, how dark are they, how not dark are they. Um… so, the valid guidelines have to be followed, but basically we'll go over that in a moment

It's a qualitative result, not quantitative, so you get to tell what type of antigens and antibodies may be present. In other words, it's open to your interpretation within basic guidelines
