Am I the only person who sees a subtle nuance /ambiguity in here?
where?
🤔
Would I be right if I say the phrase "I want him to become a doctor like me" can be translated to Russian as "хочу, чтоб он стал доктором похожим на меня"? I guess yes. But the original implies "хочу, чтоб он стал доктором ТАКЖЕ КАК И Я" If my idea makes sense then the translation should be something like "I want him to become a doctor just like I did" Makes sense?
JUST LIKE I DID is possible, but unlikely.
most people would say (just) like me
right, adding "just" make a difference because it seem to imply more the main meaning.
Also, can we say ...JUST LIKE I HAVE/HAD ?
Yes, but again it seems too precise when it’s enough to say “like me”
