It's worth saying that, unlike "posh" in English, "шикарный" in Russian doesn't have any shade of negativity.
It doesn't have to have any negativity in English either. If someone shows you their suite in a hotel, you can say "Now that's posh!" and mean it.
Well, I think, someone asking "How posh is that? " in some context can mean how 'snobby, snooty, nose in the air, etc.' it is. - and Russian "шикарный" doesn't convey this.
Yes, the brits use it like that, we don't. To us it just means luxurious.
I'd say in UK this is gradually becoming the prevailing meaning.
