People usually say this when there's a lot to do and they need to start. I don't know if it would be fitting here, but Поехали! К делу! come to mind.

Есть еще выражение (довольно бессмысленное) "Понеслась душа в рай!" - о бодром/радостном начале какого-л. интенсивного действия.

OMG! I just read that expression for the first time two days ago and have been trying to figure out how to use it!

But does it express genuine happiness here, or would it mean something like “oh my God, what a pain in the ass this is going to be!“

Let’s get cracking expresses some urgency, like “we have a lot to do and not much time. Let’s not dillydally!“

Думаю, "Пошевеливайся!" даже лучше, и может быть и при старте тоже.
