Калька с французского faux amis ложный друг (переводчика) довольно употребительна в русском языке. Кто-то буквально перевёл её на английский, и она пошла в широкие массы. 😁

Very interesting article. Thank you. What I meant was words like момент, which DOES have the same meaning on the one hand, but is then used much differently on the other hand. For instance, Russian момент has the same meaning in both languages in the temporal sense - a short time. However, the Russian word then branches off into meanings that don’t exist in English like a SCENE in a movie, a PART of a story, a POINT in a lecture, etc. So it’s both familiar and false at the same time (and I noticed it’s not on the list in that article). Another one is текст.
